William Delbert Cozad Jr., 74, of Horntown, Va., husband of Judy Hart-Cozad, passed away on Aug. 9, 2023, in Horntown, surrounded by his wife and fur babies.
Born on Feb. 11, 1949, in Manchester, Iowa, he was the son of the late William Cozad Sr. and Erma Starr Cozad. William grew up in the Manchester Iowa area, where he was a Golden Gloves Boxer. He worked at his Mom's Family restaurant, Wilson Packing Plant, and then went on to retire from John Deere. Bill was married to Judy Hart on March 27, 1987, in Monticello, Iowa.
William loved his children and grandchildren and enjoyed every moment with them. Some of his greatest pastimes were spending time with his two sons riding dirt bikes and at local parks with his extended family and friends. William has many loyal friends and loved it when they would pop over for a visit. William always enjoyed a good boat ride, water skiing, snowmobiling, riding his Harley, gardening, house plants, watching birds out his window, everyone's pets, and good music, including a love for Johnny Cash songs.
William is survived by the love of his life, Judy Hart-Cozad; his dog and cat, Sadie and Flyer; a bonus daughter, Shelley (Scott) Studebaker; grandchildren, Justin Studebaker (Roberta), Aaron Martenson (Shannon), Hanna O'Toole (Terry White), Hayley Cozad (James Krom), Charey O'Toole, Nathan Cozad (Chelsea), Karrie Woodward (Jacob), Heather Cigrand (Josh), and Austin Studebaker; seven great-grandsons; five great-granddaughters; sisters, Lynette Cisler and Sharon Hansen; sisters-in-law, Carol Snyder and Janice Brown (Tim); and a brother-in-law, Doug Hart (Linda).
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Rodney and Chad Cozad.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Sept. 24 at 1 p.m. at the FB & Company in Waubeek, Iowa.
Arrangements are by the Thornton Funeral Home in Parksley, Va.
