Peter “Pete” Millis, 77, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Aug. 9, 2023, at his home surrounded by his immediate family. A celebration of life will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 P.M. Friday, Sept. 15, at the Moose Lodge in Cedar Rapids.
Pete was born Dec. 12, 1945, to Verle and Gene (Hughes) Millis in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He worked for a number of years for Goss International and CCB Packaging. He married Venita Guthrie on May 5, 1990, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He enjoyed traveling, eating out with friends and family, collecting coins, and going to car shows where he liked to show “The Pony” a 1966 Mustang. He loved being with friends and family and cherished the time spent with them.
Pete is survived by his loving wife, Venita; children, Brent (Masae) Millis and Valerie (Karren) Hatch-Millis; grandchildren, Musashi, Kenshin and Mana; his brother, Paul (Linda); his first wife, Priscilla (John) Payne; along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his siblings, Lester and John Millis and Mary Rees.
In honor of Pete, memorials may be directed to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn.
