Kylan James Patterson, 29, of Cedar Rapids, died Aug. 12, 2023. Visitation will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 20, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre in Cedar Rapids, located at 2121 Bowling St., SW. Celebration of Life service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 21. Private family inurnment will be held later.
Kylan was born July 22, 1994, in Altamonte Springs, Fla., the son of Chris and Heidi (Halverson) Patterson. He graduated from Solon High School, class of 2012 and recently graduated (May 2023) from the University of Northern Iowa, with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. He was currently employed at Proctor and Gamble in Iowa City. Kylan truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, and he had a deep love for animals. In his free time, he enjoyed watching Twins baseball and the Chicago Bears, Hawkeyes football tailgating, playing cards and board games, online gaming and watching anime.
Kylan is survived by his parents, Chris and Heidi Patterson of Waterloo; his sisters, Emma and MK Patterson; his grandparents, Jim and Cuba Patterson of Newton; his aunt, Carrie (Gerrad) Clausen and their children, Ellie and Grace.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gordon and Mary Halverson; his uncle, Aaron Halverson; and his great-grandparents, Howard and Betty Pelzer.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Kylan Patterson Memorial Fund.
