Central City
Russell L. Tollefson Sr., 71, of Central City, Iowa, passed away Aug. 7, 2023, at Belle Plaine Specialty Care, Belle Plaine, Iowa.
Russell was born April 28, 1952, to Ernest and Nina (Thorson) Tollefson. He attended Kennedy High School in Cedar Rapids. Following school, Russ enlisted into the U.S. Army and served in Vietnam War. Upon his return he moved to Cedar Rapids and worked odd jobs before his career as a truck driver and later worked for Foster Heating and Cooling.
Russ enjoyed fishing, riding horses in his youth, listening to country music, dancing and drinking red beer. He was a member of AMVETS.
He is survived by his son, Russell Jr. of Central City; brother, Wayne of Central City; sister, Cheryl (Dennis) Choate of Norway; grandchildren, Hailey and Taylor of Glendale, Ariz.; and many more family and friends.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents.
Celebration of life will be 3 to 6 p.m. Aug. 18, 2023, at the Amvets Post #37 in Central City, casual dress. Online condolences can be sent to the family at www.hrabakfuneralservice.com.
