Freedom Festival office moving to Veterans Memorial Building

CEDAR RAPIDS — The Cedar Rapids Freedom Festival office is moving into the Veterans Memorial Building on May’s Island this month.

“This iconic building has been a part of our history for years, whether it was featured in our button designs or serving as the perfect backdrop to our Celebration of Freedom Fireworks,” said Marnie Schultz, the festival’s events and marketing coordinator. “We are honored to now be part of this beauty’s history.”

The Freedom Festival offices, now at 609 First Ave. SW, will be located on the first floor of the First Avenue side of the Veterans Memorial Building.

The location will be easily accessible, and veterans can also park on the First and Second Avenue bridges for free, as long as they have the proper window sticker displayed, Schultz said.

Since 1927, the building has hosted many events, along with city departments and veterans organizations.
