Taxes for street repair aren’t going to streets

Is the city running out of money when it comes to our sidewalks? I ask this question because while driving down Wiley Blvd on the NW side of town there is a 6-foot-wide normal cement sidewalk and then midway down the street it changes over to asphalt. Why? Is it because our city leaders do not care what the west side of town looks like?
And another thing — why isn’t the city putting this asphalt where it is really, really needed — the repair of our city streets?
I initially voted for the extra taxation to provide additional funds to go toward repairing our streets. I thought it was a promising idea at the time. Now, years later, our streets are just as in bad repair as they were prior to the additional funds. There are streets here that I will not drive down due to the numerous deep potholes and yet the city can asphalt sidewalks.
Please do not ask our city citizens to renew that extra taxation for city streets. I do not believe the money is being properly utilized. All one needs to do is to drive down the dilapidated streets and feel and see the disrepair. Someone’s pockets are being lined, just not our streets being fixed.
