BurgerFiend owners reopen pizza restaurant in Cedar Rapids

CEDAR RAPIDS — A burger restaurant family in Cedar Rapids has gone back into the pizza business, once again.

PizzaFiend opened July 31 at 1500 20th St. SW — just around the corner from BurgerFiend’s only remaining Cedar Rapids location, which is owned by Ali and Omar Igram. Diners unfamiliar with either establishment may notice the same font and logo style used at both restaurants

BurgerFiend’s sister restaurant, which also serves stromboli, pasta and wings, previously opened its original location at 3980 Center Point Rd. NE in early 2018 to complement BurgerFiend. Unlike the original concept, which first opened as Zaydo’s, the new PizzaFiend menu no longer mimics the “build your own” concept that worked well for their burgers.

It’s unclear when the first PizzaFiend location closed. BurgerFiend’s second location at the same address closed in July 2021, shortly after opening its 16th Avenue SW location.

In early 2022, the Igrams opened Breakfast Barn and Lunch House at that Center Point Road location.
