In a non-conference boys basketball game, Marion visited No. 3 Cedar Rapids Xavier Saturday to win 74-60 led by junior Tait Rahe’s 26 points.
The Trojans are ranked seventh in Class 3A. They won nine matches, including eight by pin or technical fall, to defeat Cedar Rapids Xavier, 47-19, in a boys wrestling dual Thursday night at West. The Trojans won the girls’ dual, 42-39.

Girls basketball: With Iowa City High trailing by 12 points midway through the third quarter, Maybes Miller and Eve Vitense get hot, triggering a 22-2 closing run and a 49-41 victory over Cedar Rapids Xavier.
The Iowa High School Athletic Association has released its first official boys basketball rankings of the season. Waukee Northwest, Huxley Ballard, Orange City Unity Christian and Fort Dodge St. Edmond are your numbers ones in their respective classes.
A couple of guys intended to play major roles on this season’s Cedar Rapids Xavier boys basketball team didn’t play Friday night due to injuries. The Saints, who will be a main contender for the Class 3A state championship when healthy, found a way to get past scrappy Cedar Rapids Washington, 67-57.

The Cowboys (13-3, 1-2) led by as many as nine points in the first half and went on several mini runs in the second half to keep ISU from running away with the game. But rebounding proved to be Oklahoma State’s bane, as the Cyclones grabbed 36 boards to its 29, including a 9-to-3 edge on the offensive glass.
