Alex Hanna has taken over as head coach of the Ed-Co football program this season, after 16 years as defensive coordinator for the now retired James Rochford. Hanna has led the Vikings to a No 6 ranking in Eight-Player and a 6-0 record, including a big 58-28 win Friday night at no; 7 Easton Valley.
Marion (1-4, 0-1) managed just 49 yards of total offense, three first downs and turned the ball over three times.
Iowa’s men’s basketball team played No. 4 Iowa State to the wire Thursday night before losing by four. As it did two weeks ago after a loss to nationally ranked Michigan State, the Hawkeyes were able to get an immediate bounce back, stomping Western Michigan, 91-51, Sunday afternoon at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
Those infusions of zest proved to be fleeting, however. The Cyclones trailed the Panthers (2-8) for more than five minutes in the first half before a Milan Momcilovic 3-pointer capped a 16-5 run that gave them a 44-28 edge at the break.
