Iowa starts 3-game European tour with a blowout behind 22 points apiece from Payton Sandfort and transfer Ben Krikke

PARIS — The Iowa men’s basketball team bid a quick adieu to the Paris All-Stars Monday.
The Hawkeyes opened their three-game European summer tour with a 123-77 victory. They made six 3-pointers in building a 32-15 first-quarter lead and didn’t let up against the French squad.
Junior forward Payton Sandfort and senior transfer Ben Krikke had 22 points apiece for Iowa. Sandfort scored all his points in the first three quarters. Krikke had 10 rebounds.
All 11 Hawkeyes who played scored. Senior guard Tony Perkins had 19 points, five assists and four steals. Freshman Pryce Sandfort scored 13 points. Freshman Owen Freeman had 10 points and 15 rebounds. Freshman Brock Harding scored 10 points.
Iowa shot 50.6 percent from the field and made 16 3s in 40 tries for 40 percent. The Hawkeyes had 15 steals.
“I was really pleased with the guys’ effort, especially on the glass,” Iowa Coach Fran McCaffery said. “I thought to a man, everybody played well.”
The Hawkeyes did have 21 turnovers, 13 in the first half. “That’s not who we are,” McCaffery said.
Iowa’s next game is Friday at noon (CT) in Valencia, Spain. It concludes play Monday in Barcelona.
