Jean Edith Krusie, 85, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2023, in Mercy Hallmar. Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Survivors include a brother, Bill (Christine) Fishburn of Albuquerque, N.M.; her children, Steve (Kathy) Krusie of Carmel, Ind., Richard (Lisa) Krusie of Marion and Laura (Paul) Williams of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; her grandchildren, Megan (Bill) Winfrey, Jason (Abby) Krusie, Jamie (Corey) Moore, Mason (Lynsey) Krusie, Shelby (Colton) Williams, Bonnie Williams and Tamra Williamsl and four great-grandchildren, along with many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the love of her life and husband, Larry Dean Krusie; and her sister, Kay Rouzan.
Jean was born on March 14, 1938, in Freeport, Ill., the daughter of Robert and Lauretta (Heiserman) Fishburn. She was united in marriage to Larry Dean Krusie on Sept. 6, 1958, in Freeport, Ill. Jean worked at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids as a unit secretary. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. Jean also graduated from the University of Iowa in 1984 with a bachelor’s degree in the liberal arts. She grew very strong friendships with the ladies in her Beta Sigma Phi sorority, along with the many bible study groups she attended. Jean’s one true passion was her family, especially her grandkids and great-grandkids. She would light up any time they entered the room.
