Linda W. Goad, 81, of Marion, formerly of Marengo, passed away on Aug. 1, 2023, at her home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at the First United Methodist Church, Marengo, with Pastor Becky High officiating.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 8, at Kloster Funeral Home and from 10 a.m. to service time on Wednesday, Aug. 9 at the First United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family to be dispersed at a later date.

Linda Wilene (Jones) Goad was born Sept. 7, 1941, in VaNita, Okla., the daughter of Rev. Wilford and Aileen Jones. Linda started playing the piano at age 5, and continued playing all through school accompanying anyone and everyone she could. Playing at churches and for choirs was her passion! She graduated from Woodward High School, Woodward, Okla., in 1959. She studied music at Oklahoma City University in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Linda married the love of her life, Jerry Goad, on Nov. 9, 1961, in LaChapelle-St., France. They started their family in Phillipsburg, Kan., in 1962, where all their children were born. Linda continued with her passion for music no matter where she was. Jerry and Linda moved their family to Marengo, Iowa, in 1968, where they would make their home, raising their family for the next 32 years. During their Marengo time, Linda started off playing piano, organ and directing the church choir at the Methodist church, which lead into famous cantatas. From there it grew into the community musicals known as “The Believers” an extravaganza of musically talented friends that used their musical talents to bring praise and worship to Our Lord! During these years, her weekly 80+ piano/organ students, allowed her to stay home and raise her children! She was involved with Sweet Adelines, 4-H and a very active participant in the Iowa County Association of Retarded Citizens, including being the President for multiple years. Linda would rock the organ at the horse shows, a true entertainer for all! She found favor with many churches, and their choirs including Trinity United Church of Christ, Christ Community Church, Antioch Christian Church, Jordans Grove Church, and most recently at Alburnett Methodist Church and Prairie Chapel Methodist Church, where “One Voice” was born!

During her Marengo years, Linda joined her friend Lois, at the Home Decorating Center, providing interior design and class to the town! Linda continued owning and running the decorating center and then she went to the Williamsburg Outlet Mall at Dansk, continuing running the decorating center for years. After closing up the Home Decorating center, she found a new purpose. In 1998, she started working with her son and daughter as an office supervisor at his Chiropractic practice which lead their family to move to Toddville from Marengo. The family moved to Marion, as she continued as the office supervisor until her retirement, touching many lives with her passionate care.

Her devotion to her family shined through her baking dishes, canning from her beautiful garden, and family supper gatherings bringing her “Loves” around her dining table. Those left to honor the memory of this beautiful woman are her “loves”....her three children, Michael (Pamela) Goad of Springville, Mitchell Goad and Mary Goad of Marion; seven grandchildren, Christian (Rachel) Goad, Ashley Goad, Kolton (Tess) Brandt, Gabrielle Goad, Gracie Goad, Michaela Goad and Dawson Goad; and one, soon to be two, great-grandchildren, Leilani Goad and to be determined.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Jerry Goad; and her parents, Rev. Wilford and Aileen Jones.

A big thank you to our sister, mom and aunt Mary Goad for her compassionate care and love given to our mom in her final days, filled with dignity and the great compassion!
