Judith Ann (Houlahan) McMahon, 82, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, surrounded by her loved ones. Born on March 1, 1941, in Independence, Iowa, Judy was the oldest of six children born to Joseph and Loretta (Sheeley) Houlahan. She graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1959. On Oct. 13, 1962, she married Ron McMahon at St. John Catholic Church in Coggon.
She was the loving mother of 14 children, Connie (Jon) Behnken, Julia McMahon, Patty (Mike) Briggs, Jean McMahon, Bill (Maggie) McMahon, Mike (Julie) McMahon, Dan (Lori) McMahon, Coleen (Ryan) Meissner, Rich (Audrey) McMahon, Marjie (Kevin) Werner, Tim McMahon, Bob McMahon, Kelly McMahon and Kerry (Tim) Pasker. She also considered herself the honorary mother of their foreign exchange student Andreas Wenzel of Germany.
Judy is survived by 14 children, 27 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and one honorary McMahon. She also leaves behind her brothers, Tom (Kathy) Houlahan, Pat Houlahan (Pam Swihart), Jim (Karen Klouda-Houlahan) Houlahan and John (Nancy) Houlahan. Judy is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Barb McMahon and Rosemary McMahon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved, Ron McMahon; her parents; her sister, Mary-Loretta (Jerry) Badger; and in-laws, Virginia (Bill) Drummy, Harold McMahon, Lorraine (Kenneth) Wickman and Ray McMahon.
A public scripture service will be held 2 to 3 p.m. followed by a visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester. Additional visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Monday, Aug. 7, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Aug. 7, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Manchester, with the Rev. Gabriel Anderson, officiating. Livestream of the Mass may be viewed at blessedtrinitycluster.com/livestream-mass. Committal service will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Masonville.
