Reda Rogers, 75, died peacefully Thursday, July 27, 2023, at home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, at Lensing Funeral & Cremation Service, Iowa City. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the funeral. Burial will be at Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the Reda Rogers Memorial Fund has been established.
Reda was born in California on June 24, 1948. She was raised in Arkansas. On Aug. 10, 1968, Reda married James “Frick” Rogers in Midwest City, Okla.
Reda was employed in accounting at Westinghouse prior to attending beauty school and becoming a hairdresser. Reda was later employed by Pearson. Reda made miniatures by hand and was an avid reader of true crime mysteries and books involving ghosts and similar topics.
Reda is survived by her three children, John and Jeff Rogers of Iowa City and Shannon (Matt) Purdy of Fairfax; her granddaughter, Rylie; her brother, Frankie (Linda) Harkins; sister-in-law, Leanne (John) Schaab.
Reda was preceded by her parents, Elwood and Frances (Thompson) Harkins; her husband, Jim, in 2011; in-laws, Arlo and Rosemary Rogers; and brother and sister-in-law, Dick and Kaye Rogers.
