Michael "Mort" James Mortensen, 67, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Edgewood, N.M., on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
He was born in Olivia, N.M., to Carroll (Mort) and Marilyn (Puts) Mortensen on Oct. 25, 1955. He attended and graduated from Mount Vernon Iowa Community Schools in 1973. A few years ago Mike and his Wife, Sandra, moved to New Mexico where they retired.
Mike is survived by his wife, Sandra Cee; two sisters, Teresa (Dan) Mortensen of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kim (Paul) Konkowski of Mount Vernon, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by both parents.
A gathering of friends and family to share their memories will take place at Gwen's, 119 W. Main St., Lisbon, IA, on Sunday, Aug. 20, from noon to 2 p.m.
