Robert “Bob” L. Neppl, 75, took his final breath at 6:53 a.m., Sunday, July 23rd at the Pleasantview Home in Kalona, with his wife by his side, and listening to his favorite soundtrack of Gettysburg.
A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2023, from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., at The Vine, 39 2nd Ave, Coralville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Pleasantview Home in Kalona or to Iowa City Hospice.
Bob was born Sept. 16, 1947, in Carroll, the son of Elmer and Vivian (Birch) Neppl. He was a graduate of Kuemper Catholic High School. Bob received his degree in business and finance from the University of Iowa. He served in the US Army from 1969-1971. Following military service Bob received a degree in Hospital and Health Administration from the University of Iowa.
On Aug. 30, 1969, Bob married April Angerer at St. Thomas More Church in Iowa City.
Bob was employed at the University of Iowa in the department of physics and astronomy, where is wrote grants and contracts.
Bob loved wildlife and nature. He had a special affection toward dogs and cats, even though he was allergic to cats. He was a kind, intelligent and caring gentleman who was meticulous with all his endeavors. Bob enjoyed a good cigar and race cars.
Bob is survived by his wife April and their daughter, Kelly Neppl of Iowa City; two grandchildren, Oliver and Ivy Neppl, both of Iowa City; his brother, Richard (Laura) Neppl of Boise, Idaho; mother-in-law, Loretta Angerer; and extended family.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents.
