Walter "Tree" James Hyde, 69, of Cedar Rapids, IA, died on Wednesday, July 19, 2023. A service of remembrance will be held in Central City along the river on Thursday, July 27 at 10:30 a.m., corner of Commercial and Second Streets.
Walter was born Jan. 15, 1954, the son of Robert and Mary Jo (French) Hyde. Walter grew up in Cedar Rapids. He enjoyed fishing and being in nature. He was a licensed Ham radio operator.
Walter is survived by his brother David Hyde; nieces Criss Vifian, Marci Byers, Daniella Vifian, and Ariel Peterson; nephews Skylar Gibb and Christian Bramow; and life long friend Randy Baker. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister Janet Hyde, and nephew Michael Vifian. Walter lived his life simply and unobtrusive.
