Our current values are not Christ-like

We condemn human rights violations in other countries, yet we are doing no better. We are passing laws in the United States that are forcing on others moral values they do not subscribe to. Is it Christ-like for the religious right and our state governments to pass laws on their view of morality? It has been shown trying to pass laws enforcing morality doesn’t work. What harm is done in the process? I say first, it does not further the kingdom of God.
We have no concept of the misery, suicide and medical death put on others. Doctors afraid to care for pregnant women or those in sex transition go where they can treat patients without fear of legal consequences, leaving those left behind without proper medical care. We need to focus our concern on safe physically and mentally healthy women and children.
As Jesus followers we should love the Lord our God with all our heart and our neighbor as ourselves and live our lives in his Spirt. We are all sinners and only through Christ should sin be judged. Everyone has the right to their beliefs. We don’t have to agree with others about their beliefs but as a Democracy and Christian we respect their right to their beliefs. With compassion and prayer for others and addressing these issues in a loving way the kingdom of God advances.
