James “Jimmy” Richard Miller, 92, of Mechanicsville, died on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at the Clarence Nursing Home, Clarence, Iowa. He donated his body to the University of Iowa for research. All services for Jimmy will be held at a later date.

Jimmy was born to Cornelius John and Cecil May (Shrope) Miller on Saturday, Jan. 17, 1931, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. He graduated from Mechanicsville High School with the Class of 1949. From October 1950 until March 1952 Jimmy served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. He fought in the Korean War and was awarded two Purple Hearts.
After his return from the war, Jimmy married Patricia “Patsy” Louise Seehausen on Aug. 23, 1952, and they spent their life together farming.
Jimmy is survived by hims daughters, Lou Ann (David) Cook of Naples, Fla., and Wendy (Kevin) Bird of Anamosa, Iowa; son-in-law, Howard (Beth Doyle) Siver of Mechanicsville, Iowa; sister, Dorothy Wendt of Mechanicsville, Iowa; grandchildren, Trent (Dawn Sanders) Siver, Kolter Siver, Rachel (Kyle) Koth and Taylor (Jamie Mulry) Bang; and great-grandchildren, Zoe King, Abraham Koth and Atlas Mulry-Bang.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy; and sister, June Eiler.
