Kenneth Lee Andre, 74, of Anamosa, Iowa passed away at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Tuesday, July 11, 2023. Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Mount Vernon, is assisting the family.
Surviving Ken are two nephews, Adam Andre and wife Kae of Newman, Ga., grandnieces, Jordon (27), Jayme (23) and Camryn (20); Stephen Andre of Arlington, Va., and grandnephews, Kinnick (14) and Maks (10).
Preceding Ken in death were his parents, Lloyd Andre; and Rachel (Andre) Springer; and stepfather, Floyd Springer.
Ken was born March 9, 1949, and lived in the Mechanicsville area, and attended Lincoln Community School. In his high school years he worked at Thumma’s DX in Stanwood, and also enjoyed hunting and working on his car. Later, he worked at Evergreen Packaging for 44 years and retired in 2014.
Fond memories of his nephews include ‘Uncle Bubs’ love of working outside, tending his immaculate garden and lawn, feeding his sheep, guineas, and chickens, or sitting in a tree stand waiting for a perfect deer. He was an amazing uncle who showed his nephews how to use a bow, and fire a musket. Bub was a thoughtful, caring person who always stepped in to help a friend in need. He loved his community and liked sharing his vegetables from his garden, and visiting with friends and neighbors. Ken will be deeply missed by close friends, Roger Gray and Rita, Deb Wagner, and Dan Scofield and wife Marcia, and the many friends that passed through his life.
Ken requested that no visitation or funeral take place. Those wishing to send cards to his family and loved ones may send them to 109 Wood Ridge Rd., Anamosa, IA 52205.
