Ronald R. Leeper Jr., 55, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away at UIHC on Monday, July 3, 2023, surrounded by family and friends. A celebration of life will be held at The English Pavillion at Thomas Park in Marion, Iowa, from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m., on Sunday, July 16, 2023.
Ron Leeper was born on Sept. 10, 1967, in Watertown, Minn., to Ronald Leeper Sr. and Marilyn (Thomspon) Leeper. In 1992 he married his wife, Debbie Utt; they had two children, Cody and Austin.
Ron, also known as “Mr. Fish,” enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing pool and cards, and camping with friends. He had a passion for the outdoors. Ron was a proud union laborer and teamster for over 30 years. He was considered one of the hardest working men by many. Ron loved hosting his annual fish fry at Gilligan’s for the Iowa vs. Iowa State football game.
He was preceded in death by his father and uncle, Israel.
Survivors include his wife, Debbie; sons, Cody and Austin; mother, Marilyn Leeper; his uncle, Jonts (Louise) Leeper; his aunt, Cheryl Trevizo; and many friends he considered family.
Ron especially will be remembered for always being there to help anyone with anything they needed.
