Obie Dixon, 66, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday, July 4, 2023. Celebration of Life services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, July 15, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Obie was born March 17, 1957, in Yazoo City, Miss., the son of Ben and Bobbie Mims. He was united in marriage to Judy Watkins on Aug. 28, 2017.
Obie is survived by his son, Jerome Watkins; grandchild, Ebony Watkins; mother, Bobbie Mims; siblings, Bruce (Brandie) Mims, Ben (Dawn) Mims Jr., Barbara (Darryl) Bernard, Edward (Tammy) Mims and Michael (Jennifer) Mims; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ben Mims Sr.; his wife, Judy Watkins; and brother, Larry Mims.
Obie was full of life, not just a son, brother, uncle, dad or grandfather, but a man full of joy who at times more often than not made us laugh.
