Nancy Ellen Boies, 90, died Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at the Keystone Nursing Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Van Horne, with Rev. Craig Steimel as celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Keystone. A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the Phillips Funeral Home in Keystone. In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Keystone Nursing Care Center or Hospice of Mercy.
Nancy was born on June 26, 1933, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Joe and Leona (Mosel) Tague. She was a 1951 graduate of Belle Plaine High School. Nancy married Bob Boies on Dec. 1, 1951, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Belle Plaine. They farmed together for 44 years, before Bob’s death in 1995. Together they raised six children, and she was always there for them throughout the years in big and small ways.
Nancy was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Keystone Turnerettes, Keystone Care Center Key Ladies, and the Friendly Neighborhood Card Club. She enjoyed bowling, golf, and playing cards.
Survivors include her three daughters, Terri (Terry) Buelow of Newhall, Barb (Dan) DeMeulenaere of Palo and Cathy (Milton) Lentz of Cedar Rapids; two sons, Jim (Carla) Boies of Conroy and Bill (Sandi) Boies of Keystone; daughter-in-law Dusty Morrison; 19 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband Bob, she was preceded in death by her son, Dick Boies; brothers, Donald, Paul and Tom Tague; sisters and husbands, Joan (David) McAlpine, Kathleen (Tom) Clark, Mary Ann (Lynn) Parlette and Margaret (Jim) Ferguson; In-laws, Homer and Margaret Boies; and sister-in-law, Roberta (Bruce) Ackman.
