Troy W. VanErsvelde, 54, of Montezuma, died unexpectedly Sunday, July 2, 2023. Funeral service: 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 12, at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center, Brooklyn, Iowa, with Father Stephen Page officiating. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at the Michael J. Manatt Community Center, Brooklyn, Iowa. Private burial will be at a later date. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, is assisting the family with arrangements.
Troy is survived by his parents, Jim and Janet VanErsvelde of Montezuma; a brother, Todd (Diane) VanErsvelde of North Liberty; five nieces, Mekaila, Courtney, Nicole, Jill and Allison VanErsvelde; and a special friend, Cheryl.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents; two brothers, Mike, in 1994, and Brett, in 2018; and a nephew, Dan.
Troy William VanErsvelde was born April 16, 1969, in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Jimmy and Janet Baltisberger VanErsvelde. He received his education in the BGM schools, graduating with the Class of 1987. Troy was a graphic artist for 24 years, and most recently self-employed in auto detailing. Troy also worked at the D & P Tavern in Victor for over 20 years. He enjoyed shooting pool, playing cards and spending time with his friends and family.
