Praying that those who need help receive it

If you read the tweets of Gov. Kim Reynolds, Attorney General Brenna Bird, Reps. Ashley Hinson and Mariannette Miller-Meeks, you know their message is, "Hardworking Iowans shouldn't have to pay for anyone's student loans." Rather consistent from all of them. It just surprises me that so many Iowans lead such charmed lives — that few of you will have a child or grandchild who needs the services of a speech pathologist or reading specialist, that no one will have a favorite uncle with cancer who requires the skills of a trained nurse, that you won't need help from a physical therapist after a knee replacement.
Generational wealth is real, perhaps the topic of a different letter, but consider that the legacy admission whose parents can afford the almost mind-numbing tuition of a college might not be the person who actually contributes to the quality of your life. Perhaps that first generation college student who wouldn't be there without student loans might be that person.
I will continue to hope and pray for the best for you and your family. I hope that you will consider that the person who needs our help now is the one who might be there when you are most in need.
