Jeremy Duane Kalous, 50, of Fairfax, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Brosh Chapel and The Avacentre, located at 2121 Bowling St. SW, Cedar Rapids.
Jeremy was born May 2, 1973, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Duane and Carol (Swarts) Kalous. He graduated from Cedar Rapids Prairie High School, class of 1991. Jeremy was united in marriage to Brenda Buser on May 8, 1999, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Cedar Rapids. He worked for many years as a plumber and was currently part of Rabe Hardware. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, grilling food, cooking, tending to his animals and, most of all, spending time with his family. Jeremy was gifted to find comfort attending Prairie Bible Church, as he carried the Word in his daily life. He loved watching NASCAR, and had just taken a great family trip to Florida to tour Daytona International Speedway.
Jeremy is survived by his wife, Brenda; his children, Kaitlin, Hunter and Graci; a brother, Gary Kalous (Tina McGinness-Meyer); his parents, Duane and Carol Kalous; his nieces and nephews, Dade, Logan, Maddox and Kael Kalous; his father and mother-in-law, Ray and Sally Buser; and his loving dog Dillon.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Helen Kalous and Claude and Maggie Swarts.
