IOWA CITY — Iowa junior guard Caitlin Clark has been named the 2022-23 Big Ten Female Athlete of the Year.
Clark is the third Hawkeye to earn such honors, joining Kristy Gleason (field hockey, 1994) and Megan Gustafson (basketball, 2019).
She is the ninth basketball player to be selected.
A 6-foot native of West Des Moines, Clark was chosen Monday as the 2023 recipient of the Honda Cup as the Collegiate Woman Athlete of the Year.
She was the unanimous national player of the year and Big Ten player of the year after leading Iowa to its first NCAA national championship game appearance.
Zach Edey of Purdue won the men’s award.
