Diane Hathaway, 69, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Monday, June 26, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids assisted the family.
Diane was born Sept. 9, 1953, in California, the daughter of Rudolph and Betty (Hunter) Starr. She graduated from Jefferson High School. On July 29, 1989, Diane was united in marriage to Robert Hathaway in Cedar Rapids. Diane worked as a freight broker at Landstar Inway prior to her retirement. She loved watching football, especially the Miami Dolphins. Diane was an expert baker who loved making wedding cakes and cheesecakes for special events. She was a social butterfly who enjoyed camping and going out dancing. Diane will be missed by those who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her children, Andrew Welbourne and Casey (Pamela) Welbourne; sister, Karen (Jerry) Stearns; stepchildren, Jamey (Sarah) Hathaway and Stephanie (Matt) Roberts; grandchildren, Tyler, Colten, Eleanor, Abel and Dash Welbourne, and Tatum, Tucker and Nash Hathaway, and Eli and Payton Roberts; two great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Cindy) Starr; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Robert.
