Robert “Bob” Wayne Burns, 78, formerly of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at the Monroe Care Center in Albia, Iowa.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Bob was born on June 26, 1944, in Moravia, Iowa, the son of Glen and Doris Burns. Following graduation from high school, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country.
Bob was united in marriage to Margaret “Maggie” Poppenga on Sept. 30, 1972, in Mechanicsville, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Michelle and Aaron. Bob and Maggie enjoyed 40 years of marriage before her passing on Nov. 13, 2012.
Bob was a production worker at Rockwell Collins and retired in 1999. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes fan and enjoyed western books and old movies.
He will be greatly missed by his children, Michelle Burns and Aaron Burns, both of Cedar Rapids; and siblings, Dorothy Parcel of Texas, Maxine Agan of Buffalo, Iowa, Margaret Arnold and Marlene DeMoss of Ottumwa, Iowa, Mary Jenkins of Mo., Max Burns of Bussey, Iowa, and Jim Admire of Centerville, Iowa.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Doris Burns; wife, Maggie Burns; and siblings, Carl Burns and twins, Larry and Jerry Burns.
