Karen L. Darling, 83, of Cedar Rapids, passed away on June 12, 2023. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, June 19, at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, at St. Ludmila’s Catholic Church. A burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery and then a luncheon at the Cedar Memorial Family Center.
Karen was born May 27, 1940, to Francis and Wilma (Erger) Maher in Cedar Rapids. After graduating high school in Norway, she began work at Bodie Optical. She was united in marriage to Michael Darling on Dec. 19, 1970. Their union was blessed with one child, Sean. Karen was an avid volunteer and spent 17 years giving her time to Mercy Hospital. She loved to read, especially the Perry Mason mysteries and enjoyed listening to live country music. She will be remembered by those who love her as a loving wife and mother.
Those left to cherish Karen’s memory are her husband, Michael; and son, Sean.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Wilma; and an infant sister.
