DeVota “Do” Eileen Koudelka, 95, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 10, 2023. Funeral services: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home. Burial: First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, rural Ely.
Survivors include her children, Carol Koudelka-Wilson and Kay (Tom) Koudelka-Oloff; grandchildren, Jeff (Sheila) Novak, Rod (Heather) Souchek, Ben (Dawn) Souchek, Brian (Michelle) Wilson, Kristoffer Souchek and Tateum (Doug) DeBower; 11 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Lytle and Bonnie (Leland) Heisdoffer; several nieces and nephews, and her shih tzu, Holly.
Do was born on June 26, 1927, in Geneseo, Ill., the daughter of Earl and Ada (Clark) Coghlan. On June 26, 1946, she married Wesley Koudelka in Cedar Rapids. For many years, they owned and operated Koudelka Painting & Decorating and Plaza Paint & Wallcovering. They retired in 1987 and enjoyed spending their winters in Weslaco, Texas. Do and Wes had friends from all over the United States and Canada as a result of being a “Winter Texan.” Do enjoyed square dancing with Wes, reading, knitting, and crocheting. She was a member of Lovely Lane United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Betty Coghlan, Florance Coghlan, Jean (Harry) Boren, Lois (Dale) Harris and Earl “Bud” (Rose) Coghlan; and brother-in-law, Dale Lytle.
