Jerry Loren Leas, 71, of Central City, Iowa, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 7, 2023, at his home in rural Central City. In agreement with his wishes, cremation rites have taken place. A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, July 2, at Fross Park, located on Main Street, on the north end of Center Point, Iowa. A private committal service will take place at a later date.
Jerry was born on May 13, 1952, in Postville, Iowa, the son of Loren Vinton and Donna Mae Florence (Krambeer) Leas. He was a 1970 graduate of the former (Monona – Farmersburg - Luana) M-F-L Community High School in Monona, Iowa. From 1971, Jerry served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, until he was honorably discharged in 1974. After Jerry returned home, he was employed for years as a lineman and later as a truck driver at various companies. Later in life, he met his future bride. On January 13, 2015, Jerry was united in marriage to Conneye Lynn (Northrup) Dulin at the Bellagio Fountains, in Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home in rural Central City, aka “God’s Country”. Jerry and Conneye enjoyed being outdoors, traveling all over the states and going to casinos. Most of all, he simply loved being a “Dad” and of course a “Grandpa” and spending time with his family. Those times he shared with his family were his happiest and most cherished. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Jerry is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Conneye Leas of Central City; his children, Frankie (Jess) Dulin of Vinton, Iowa, Scooter (Stacey) Dulin of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Amanda (Marty) Meeker of Marion, Iowa, McKenzie (Dustin) Pruismann of Central City, and Candance “Candy” (Kyle) Schluer of Panama City Beach, Fla.; sister, Linda (Robert) VanWey of Marion; brother, Steve (Denise) Leas of Fairfax, Iowa; two stepbrothers, Lonnie Trumblee of Nebraska and Steven (Maycale) Trumblee of Farmersburg, Iowa; 18 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; eight nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Loren Leas; mother, Donna Mae Leas Trumblee; step-father, LaVon Trumblee; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family to be designated later.
