Puk off IL, Rea pitches well, Dermody back in big leagues ... briefly

CEDAR RAPIDS — Here’s a look at area Iowans in the minors. These are players in affiliated professional baseball from Eastern Iowa and the University of Iowa.
All the following statistics are through Friday.
One note: former Iowa Hawkeyes pitcher and Waukee High School graduate Drew Irvine has been released by the Pittsburgh Pirates. An 19th-round draft pick of the team in 2021 had an 11.37 earned run average in six relief appearances this season for high-A Greensboro (South Atlantic League) and was 3-1 with a 4.20 ERA in 19 career games in the the Pirates organization.
Nick Allgeyer (Iowa/Philadelphia Phillies) — Pitcher was traded in early May from the Philadelphia Phillies to Houston Astros for cash. For Triple-A Sugar Land (Pacific Coast League), he is 1-1 with a 6.85 earned run average in six games, three starts.
Ben Beutel (Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Relief pitcher has thrown in four games for low-Class A Kannapolis (Carolina League). Has allowed one run in 6 1/3 innings with four strikeouts.
Tyler Cropley (Iowa/Kansas City Royals) — Catcher is hitting .268 in 41 at-bats for Double-A Northwest League (Texas League), with a home run and four RBIs.
Duncan Davitt (Iowa/Tampa Bay Rays) — Relief pitcher is with high-A Bowling Green (South Atlantic League), promoted recently from low-A Charleston. Two runs, nine strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings for Hot Rods.
Matt Dermody (Norwalk/Iowa/Boston Red Sox) — Veteran southpaw pitcher got a promotion from Triple-A to the big leagues, making the start Thursday night for Boston against Cleveland. He gave up four hits and three runs in four innings and took the loss. The Red Sox then designated him for assignment.
Jack Dreyer (Johnston/Iowa/Los Angeles Dodgers) — Has made 18 relief appearances for high-A Great Lakes (Midwest League), has a 2-0 record and 2.11 ERA. Only 11 hits allowed in 21 1/3 innings, with 20 walks and 24 strikeouts.
Nick Gallagher (Iowa City West/Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Is on the seven-day injured list at Double-A Birmingham (Southern League). Has 0-2 record with a 7.45 ERA in 14 relief appearances. Has allowed just 16 hits with 26 strikeouts in 19 1/3 innings.
Korry Howell (Kirkwood Community College/San Diego Padres) — Center fielder is on the seven-day IL at Double-A San Antonio (Texas League). Hitting .194 in 20 games, four RBIs and nine stolen bases.
Mitch Keller (Cedar Rapids Xavier/Pittsburgh Pirates) — Is 7-2 with a 3.60 ERA in 13 starts for the Pirates. Has allowed 72 hits in 80 innings, with 94 strikeouts.
Austin Krob (Lisbon/San Diego Padres) — Lefty pitcher continues to throw well for low-A Lake Elsinore (California League), his start this week against Fresno consisting of five innings with six strikeouts and no earned runs allowed. Has no record and a 1.54 ERA in nine appearances, eight starts.
Adam Mazur (Iowa/San Diego Padres) — Righty second-round draft pick got to pitch back in Iowa this week, picking up his first professional victory by throwing six innings against Quad Cities. Has a 1.95 ERA in eight games, seven starts this season for high-A Fort Wayne (Midwest League).
Mason McCoy (Iowa/Seattle Mariners) — Infielder has played in 56 games for Triple-A Tacoma (Pacific Coast League), hitting .252 with six homers and 28 RBis. Recently played his 600th game in the minor leagues.
Cole McDonald (New Hampton/Iowa/Houston Astros) — Promoted to Double-A Corpus Christi in April, reliever has a 0-1 record, three saves and 3.94 ERA in 10 appearances. Has given up just six hits in 16 innings, with 23 strikeouts.
Ian Moller (Dubuque Wahlert/Texas Rangers) — Catcher hitting .172 with two homers and 13 RBIs in 134 at-bats for low-A Down East (Carolina League).
Dylan Nedved (Iowa/San Diego Padres) — Pitcher is 1-4 with a 7.32 ERA in 15 relief appearances for low-A Lake Elsinore (California League). Also has a save. Has posted 23 strikeouts in 19 2/3 innings.
Ben Norman (Des Moines Roosevelt/Iowa/Chicago White Sox) — Outfielder is hitting and even .193 in 32 games at Double-A Birmingham (Southern League). Has two homers and 14 RBIs.
A.J. Puk (Cedar Rapids Washington/Miami Marlins) — Lefty reliever was recently activated from the 15-day injured list for the Marlins. Is 3-1 with six saves and a 2.87 ERA in 16 games for Miami. Has 22 strikeouts in 15 2/3 innings.
Colin Rea (Cascade/Northern Iowa/Milwaukee Brewers) — Threw very well Thursday for Milwaukee in a no-decision against Baltimore. Went five innings, gave up three hits and no runs, striking out eight. Has a 3-3 record and 4.47 ERA in 11 games, 10 starts, this season for the Brewers.
Tommy Specht (Dubuque Wahlert/Texas Rangers) — Outfielder off to hot start since being promoted recently to low-A Down East recently. Is 13-for-36 (.361) with three RBIs. Is teammates with fellow Wahlert grad Ian Moller with the Wood Ducks.
Levi Usher (Cedar Rapids Prairie/Kansas City Royals) — Outfielder is hitting .157 in 34 games for low-A Columbia (Carolina League). Has one homer, nine RBIs and eight steals.
Connor Van Scoyoc (Cedar Rapids Jefferson/Los Angeles Angels) — Right-handed pitcher has a 3.14 ERA and 2-3 record in nine starts for high-A Tri City (Northwest League). Has allowed just 35 hits in 48 2/3 innings.
Trenton Wallace (Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — At high-A Vancouver (Northwest League), lefty pitcher went 5-2 with a 1.79 ERA in eight starts. Had 47 strikeouts in 40 1/3 innings. One start for Double-A New Hampshire (Eastern League), allowed three runs in 4 1/3 innings with a no decision.
Peyton Williams (Iowa/Toronto Blue Jays) — First baseman recently was promoted to high-Class A Vancouver (Northwest League) from low-A Dunedin (Florida State League). Hit .273 with seven home runs in 41 games for Dunedin. In seven games for Vancouver, hitting .192 with a home run and two RBIs.
Keaton Winn (Pekin/San Francisco Giants) — Righty pitcher is 0-3 with a 4.35 ERA in 12 games, nine starts, for Triple-A Sacramento (Pacific Coast League). Has struck out 51 in 41 1/3 innings.
