IOWA CITY — Iowa football’s 2023 schedule has some more clarity as kickoff times and TV lineups have been set for the first three home games and the Nov. 24 game against Nebraska.
Iowa’s Sept. 2 season opener against Utah State will be at 11 a.m. on FS1.
The Sept. 9 Cy-Hawk game in Ames will kick off at 2:30 p.m. on Fox.
The Hawkeyes’ non-conference finale against Western Michigan on Sept. 16 will be a 2:30 p.m. start on Big Ten Network.
Iowa’s Sept. 23 game at Penn State — what will be the Nittany Lions’ annual white-out game — has moved from 7 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It will air on CBS.
Iowa’s Oct. 7 homecoming game against Purdue will either be at 6:30 p.m. in NBC’s primetime slot or at 2:30 or 3 p.m. with a to-be-determined TV assignment, according to Iowa sports information.
Later in the season, Iowa’s Black Friday game at Nebraska on Nov. 24 will have a 11 a.m. kickoff on CBS. The timing minimizes overlap between the Iowa-Nebraska game and an NFL game at 2 p.m.
Other start times and TV slots will come out as the season progresses.
The 2023 season marks the first under the Big Ten’s new media rights contract, which includes Fox, CBS, NBC and Big Ten Network.
ESPN is not part of the deal, so the only possible time for Iowa to be on ESPN in 2023 will be the bowl game.
