Mary “Ann” Villhauer, 84, died peacefully Sunday, May 28, 2023.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, June 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford. Father Francis Mensah will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Church, where the Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the Mary “Ann” Villhauer Memorial Fund has been established.
Ann was born Aug. 11, 1938, in Iowa City, the daughter of Dr. Raphael and Alberta (Bauer) Hennes. She was a graduate of Oxford High School and attended Marycrest College. On July 5, 1958, Ann married Marcus Villhauer at St. Mary Catholic Church in Oxford.
Ann was an account representative at Marsh and McLennan for many years. Prior to that she was the office manager at her father’s medical practice.
She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, the National Catholic Society of Foresters, and the Nemora Club. Ann volunteered at the Oxford Public Library. In her free time, Ann loved to cook, bake and prepare large holiday meals. Ann and Marcus enjoyed their weekly trips to Kalona. Ann was a person of strong faith, living her life as a devout Catholic. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time and caring for her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s and great-grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Ann is survived by her five children, Amy (Earl) Berg of Oxford, Tom (Denise) Villhauer of Oxford, Ken Villhauer of West Branch, Jim (Katie) Villhauer of Oxford, and John (Emily) Villhauer of Tipton; 16 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; her brother, Jim (Margaret) Hennes of Oxford; and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother, Charles; her sister-in-law, Mary Ann Hennes; and nephew, John Michael Hennes.
