Second-String Sportswriters Football Selections
Nov. 26, 2010 6:03 am
We've got faces for radio and voices for the newspaper. This week a few of us SourceMedia Group sportswriters will make the same selections on our multiple websites as the stars who appear in the Saturday morning version of The Gazette. Here's our chance to shine:
JEFF JOHNSON
- Minnesota 24, Iowa 23 – Just a hunch. At the very least I'd take the Gophers and the points.
- Penn State 28, Michigan State 24 – Just a hunch. Or maybe just gas.
- Oklahoma State 31, Oklahoma 28 – It's a Walmart state, baby!
- Last week: 2-1; Overall: 23-13
SCOTT DOCHTERMAN
- Iowa 27, Minnesota 13 - Carl Spackler would pick the Hawkeyes, too.
- Penn State 38, Michigan State 31 - JoePa, welcome to the Outback Bowl. You meet the median age in the Tampa area.
- Oklahoma 54, Oklahoma State 43 - How old's Mike Gundy, anyway?
- Last week: 0-3; Overall: 17-19
JEFF LINDER
- Iowa 31, Minnesota 14 - Retention of Floyd a bright spot in a relatively dim season.
- Penn State 30, Michigan State 28 - Paterno is taking “lifetime contract” literally.
- Oklahoma 44, Oklahoma State 38 - The best they could come up with was “Bedlam Series?”
- Last week: 1-2; Overall: 24-12
K.J. PILCHER
- Iowa 31, Minnesota 13 – Iowa players will feast on turkey Thursday before getting their hands on pork Saturday.
- Michigan State 24, Penn State 10 – Joe Pa is coming back for one more year. He thinks Todd Blackledge can lead them to a national title next season.
- Oklahoma 38, Oklahoma State 31 – Big XII officials will need a compass, protractor, Tarot cards and Sheldon Cooper to figure out the South champ when this is over.
- Last week: 2-1; Overall: 25-11
