Jon Knight, 79, of rural Viola, died Monday, May 8, 2022, at his home.
A Celebration of Life will be held, at a later date. Goettsch Funeral Home has taken Jon and his family into their care. Jon Ward Knight was born Nov. 15, 1943, at Anamosa, Iowa. He was the son of Ward and Norma Clare, Larson, Knight. He received his early education in the Viola schools and graduated from the Anamosa High School with the class of 1961. Jon loved farming and worked and lived on the family farm for 75 years. Jon was multi-talented, and in addition to farming he was a plumbing parts salesman, a plumber and heavy equipment operator. One of his favorite pastimes was tinkering with old Cub Cadet lawn tractors.
Jon is survived by his beloved companion, Dawn Eitel; two sons, Brenton (Kathie) Knight and Aaron (Kim) Knight; two grandchildren, Emma and Jeffrey Knight; and siblings, Sheryl Altfillisch and Kevin (Rita) Knight. He is also survived by Dawns two sons, Josh (Aimee) Eitel and Andy (Kim) Eitel; and grandchildren, Keelie, Jaylen, Carter, Lainie, Nessa and Wyatt.
He was preceded by his parents; his wife, Dana Hurt Knight; and brother-in-law, Thomas Altfillisch.
