I strongly support Kim Taylor for Linn County supervisor. She is a 'gold mine” for people who need assistance.
As a college counselor, I was helping a Rwandan student work with immigration and the National Visa Center to bring his wife and stepdaughter to the states. His process had been entangled with poor communication, misunderstandings and a complex and cumbersome process for a man whose first language is not English.
After more than a year of complex paperwork and stalled progress, he heard from a friend about Taylor, who worked in Sen. Tom Harkin's office. He heard Taylor knew how to get things done. From the moment we called Taylor, we knew we were going to get help. She listened carefully to our dilemma, and within weeks, she had made connections and untangled the problem. The family was reunited in 2013, in large part because of Taylor's diligence to resolve a difficult dilemma.
A month ago, another person came to see me with immigration issues and this time I didn't hesitate: I called Taylor. She provided the same consistent service: She listened, she took the time to understand the problem, she made the necessary connections and the problem soon will be resolved.
Her service and dedication to Iowa constituents is apparent. I know as a supervisor she will listen, make connections and act to resolve the needs of those of us who live in Linn County.
