Marcia J. Elhart, 86, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Saturday, May 20, 2023, at UnityPoint-St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids.
A memorial visitation is Thursday, May 25, 1 to 2 p.m. at Dennison Funeral Home, 1005 SE Third St., Aledo, Ill., with a graveside service to follow at Peniel Cemetery, rural Joy, Ill. The family request no flowers or monetary donations.
Marcia Jean was born Sept. 4, 1936 in Aledo, Ill., to Wendell and Pauline Davison Elhart. The 1954 graduate of Joy High School went on to the University of Dubuque, graduating in 1958. She then moved to Cedar Rapids to begin her 44 years at Kenwood Elementary School as a very dedicated teacher.
Marcia was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling in her younger years. She had an active church life with Westminster Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include her sisters, Beverly Springer of Mesa, Ariz., and Norma (Don) Thomas of Milan, Ill.; nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; as well as her cousin: Barry (Pat) Davison.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother Roger Lane Elhart in infancy; and brother-in-law: Richard Springer.
