Cristian James “C.J.” Upah, 17, of Marion passed away May 10, 2023. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 19, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Chapel Stateroom. Funeral Mass: 9 a.m. Saturday, May 20, 2023, at St. Jude Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids.

C.J. was born on Sept. 12, 2005, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Elissa Fiferlick and Jason Upah. He was currently a junior at Linn-Mar High School in Marion. His family will always remember his wonderful giggle and giving the biggest hugs. C.J. had a very kind heart, especially for younger kids and animals. He loved playing video games and was a Tampa Bay Buccaneers fan. C.J. liked watching movies including the Marvel movies and older movies such as "Back to the Future" and "Ferris Bueller’s Day Off." C.J. loved hanging out with friends playing basketball at the local parks and even getting in a little fishing.

Survivors include his mother, Elissa Fiferlick of Marion; father, Jason (Corrine) Upah of Marion; maternal grandparents, Donna and Tim Fiferlick; maternal great-grandmother, Illa Nelson; stepsisters, Natalee and Lydia Bennett; aunts and uncles, Melia (Josh) Zaruba, Blake (Steph) Fiferlick, Jeff (Denise) Upah, Joel Upah, Jerry (Lori) Upah, Jennifer (Larry) Hanson, Janette (Ed) Roerich and Jim (Chris) Upah; and several cousins. He will forever be missed and loved by everyone who knew him.

Preceding him in death were his paternal grandparents Virginia and James Upah, maternal great-grandparents Patricia and Maurice Fiferlick, paternal great-grandfather William Nelson, and cousin Larry Hanson Jr.
