Hazel Jean Miller, 96, of Iowa City, passed away on May 13, 2023, at Legacy Pointe Assisted Living.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 19, 2023, at noon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City, where her family will greet friends prior to the service from 11 a.m. to noon. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Iowa City. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Croix Hospice in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Hazel was born on Feb. 5, 1927 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Joseph and Gladys (Wetland) Meyers. She graduated from St. Mary’s High School in Clinton, Iowa, in 1946 before attending Browns Business College in Iowa City. Hazel married Richard Miller on July 12, 1948, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Iowa City.
She enjoyed dancing, needlepointing and playing bridge. Hazel was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church since 1946.
She is survived by her two children, Jan (Jeffrey) Fabry of Brandon, Fla., and Tom (Karen) Miller of Wildwood, Mo.; four grandchildren, Brittany Fabry, Matthew Fabry, Austin Miller and Erik Miller; sister-in-law, Shirley Liming; and several nieces and nephews.
Hazel was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Joyce (Bill) Wagner; and brothers-in-law, Vern Miller, Verl (Dorothy) Miller and AJ Liming.
