Marilyn “Joan” Davis (Jan. 23, 1936 to May 12, 2023), passed away at Unity Point St. Luke’s Hospital following surgery. Joan graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1954. There she met and then married Donald B. Davis on Oct. 22, 1954. They were married 65 years.
Joan was a beautiful, determined, sweet and sometimes feisty women with a highly developed work ethic. She held many
challenging jobs. She held jobs as an assistant buyer for Armstrong’s, a parts buyer for Motorola, an activities program director for the elderly and many others. She was a highly valued employee that always exceeded expectations. Her beauty and intelligence were obvious to all. However, Joan was most proud of her lead in "The Bartered Bride" as a junior in high school. The cast also performed in St. Louis, and a recording was broadcast on Radio Free Europe. She was awarded a music scholarship to the University of Iowa.
Joan was a protective, caring mother to Kathryn Ann and Robert Dean. She was so proud of her children and their families. Joan was a sister to Jayne and Judy. She attempted to guide us, however, we loved to tease her. We shared lots of laughs and tears. We so admired her.
She is survived by her sisters, Jayne (Gary) Caddoo and Judy (John) McKean; children, Robert (Lori) Davis and Kathryn (Dennis) Wacker; grandchildren, Tyler (Emily) Davis, Abby (Bill) Heitshusen, Jared (Angie) Wacker, Cason (Sarah) Wacker, DJ (Kelli) Wacker, Andrea (Justin) Wasson, Amy Wacker and Josh Wacker; 18 great-grandchildren; and many cousins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father and brother, Jerry.
She earned her peace by giving 100 percent to every day she lived. May heaven ring out with her angel voice.
Services: 11 a.m. Tuesday May 16, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service time. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral home is in charge of the arrangements.
