Jerry “Ace” Ridenour, 80, passed away on Thursday, May 11, 2023. Visitation: Monday, May 15, 2023, from 4 to 6 p.m, with a rosary at 3 p.m. at Stewart Baxter Funeral & Memorial Services, Cedar Rapids. Memorial Service: Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father O’Connor officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Carolyn “Joyce”; daughters, Robin (Brian) Odean and Tara (Jon Dornbusch) Walker; grandchildren, Leah (Ben) Greif, Riley Odean, Klein Walker and Karlee Walker; great-grandchildren, Margot Hopfensperger; and siblings, Lyle Ridenour Jr., Tom Ridenour, and Kay Layman.
Jerry was born May 26, 1942, the son of Lyle and Katherine (Gross) Ridenour. He graduated from Monticello High School in 1960. Jerry was an avid athlete and very social. He went on to marry Carolyn “Joyce” Woods in 1963. Jerry worked for Eagles Foods for 25 years and various positions at the Cedar Rapids Airport. He enjoyed bowling, gambling, hunting, fishing, dancing, and watching his grandchildren’s sports and activities. He also enjoyed going to concerts and movies, and sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and Green Bay Packers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be made to the family.
