Theodore H. “Ted” Smyth was called to his heavenly home on May 10, 2023. A visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. Funeral services will take place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids. Private family burial: Saint Paul Cemetery, Williamsburg, Iowa.
He was born April 17, 1937, to J. Harvey and Kathryn (Lehnen) Smyth. He served in the United States Navy from 1955-57. Ted married Mary LeAnne Mumm on Feb. 24, 1957; they were parents to four children.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Le Smyth; daughter, Lynn (Ed) St. John; son, Steven; brother, James; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son, Scott; daughter, Stacy; his parents; his parents-in-law, Otto and Alma Mumm; sister, Kathryn Louise; and sisters-in-law, Sally Smyth and Joyce Walker.
Memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy, Meth-Wick Community, or Trinity Lutheran Church.
