James “Jamey” Wolfe, 54, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, took his final checkered flag on Friday, May 5, 2023, after a courageous battle with kidney cancer. The family will greet friends from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids.
Jamey, a lifelong resident of Cedar Rapids, owned and operated Jamey Wolfe Trucking for many years; most recently working for ABC Disposal. Jamey spent many years dominating the dirt track racing pro stock cars, driving the “00,” winning many track championships in Iowa.
Jamey had a love for operating large machinery, a love for dump trucks, but most of all a love for his family. Jamey was able to make friends anywhere he went. His storytelling was one for the books, his laugh was contagious, and his big heart was plentiful.
Left to cherish his memory are the love of this life, Ronnee; his amazing stepchildren, Emily McGraw, Stanley McGraw Jr., and Seth McGraw; the two who meant the most to him, his grandkids: Avah and Cayden “Buckshot” McGraw; his mother, Judith Higbee; brothers, Joe Wolfe Jr., Steve Goodall, and Rob Goodall; sister, Cindy Kleinmeyer; his mother-in-law, Phyllis O’Brien; father-in-law, Ronald (Lucy) O’Brien; sisters-in-law, Cathy (John) Mason, Trina (Sam) Ezernack, and Carrie (Travis) McAtee; brothers-in-law, James (Michelle) O’Brien, Ed (Diane) O’Brien, Joe O’Brien, and Todd Watson; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his dearest friends, Scott (Teri) Meyers, Scott (Sheri) Grabanski, Scott Licht, Dave Seely, Trent Carter, and Windy Keller.
He was preceded in death by his father, Joe Wolfe Sr.; stepfather, Chester Higbee; and his grandparents, Francis and Mildred Wolfe, Patrick and Ellen Gallagher.
His family would like to thank Dr. Susan Slycord and the staff at Hall-Perrine for all the love and special care given to Jamey during his journey. Thank you to the amazing staff at Mercy Hospice House for such loving care.
