Janet Marie Fullmer, 84, of Cedar Rapids, died on Thursday, May 4, 2023. Celebration of Life: 2 p.m. Friday, May 12, at Teahen Funeral Home by Penny Ackerman. Friends may visit with the family on Friday after 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Janet is survived by two sons, Barry (Suzy) Schmitz and Bryan Schmitz; four grandchildren, Janelle, Madison, Jacob and Aly; two great-grandchildren, Odin and Atlas; four siblings, Ron (Nancy) Ahrens, Marilyn Murphy, Ruth Tataone and Gerald (Rita Ann) Ahrens; daughter-in-law, Dana Schmitz; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, Daniel Schmitz; son, Darrin Schmitz; and second husband, Laverne Fullmer.
Janet was born on Feb. 18, 1939, in Marengo, the daughter of Frank and Florence Wiebold Ahrens.
She graduated from Conroy High School in 1957. Janet retired from Alliant Energy after working in the purchasing department for many years.
Janet enjoyed gardening, dinner with her friends and attending shows at Theatre Cedar Rapids. Most importantly, Janet loved spending time with her family by attending her grandchildren’s games and their show choir events and traveling to Arizona to be with them.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janet’s name.
