James A. Kelley, 74, of Marion, passed away on March 3, 2023. Services will be held on Friday, May 19, at the Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. Visitation will be held from 9 to 10:30 a.m., with memorial service starting at 10:30 a.m. A committal service will be held after the memorial service at Shiloh Cemetery in Hiawatha.
James was born on April 4, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, to Ivan and Gladys “Marie” (Morris) Kelley. He graduated from Alburnett High School and immediately joined the U.S. Navy. After leaving the Navy, he attended several different colleges to achieve the knowledge he needed to become a successful farmer. He farmed in Linn County for most of his life. James was an avid bicyclist. He enjoyed watching sports. He loved listening to music on his expansive sound system. He was also an active member of his church.
James is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as his friends that were like family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ivan and Marie; and his uncle, Orville Morris.
