Cathy Nunn
Cathy Nunn
Tiffin
Cathy Ann Nunn, 65, of Tiffin, Iowa, ended her fight with lung cancer on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
Cathy was born to Melvin and Jewell Modracek. She was the youngest child, and enjoyed growing up on a farm outside of Swisher and Shueyville. She married Nicholas Schulte and gave birth to her three children. Cathy’s greatest joys were her children and her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing puzzles, gardening and playing toe tag in the swimming pool. She loved hummingbirds, gnomes and butterflies. She dedicated her life to her family and stayed home to raise her children until they were in school. Most recently, until her cancer diagnosis, Cathy managed Back Berner Bar and Grill in Tiffin, Iowa. She had many loyal customers who will miss her sense of humor and her compassionate heart. Cathy was a friend to everyone and always took time to make people feel valued and cared for, regardless of their situation.
Cathy is survived by her husband of 15 years, Chris Nunn of Tiffin; her children, Elizabeth (Allen) Chipera of Walford, Laura (Shawn) Hagen of Laveen, Ariz., and Lucas (Ashley) Schulte of Amana; her five grandchildren, Sawyer and Finn Chipera, Theo Hagen and Emersyn and Brooks Schulte; her siblings, Dennis (Judy) Modracek, Duane (Debi) Modracek and Janice (Tim) Scheurs; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles.
Special thanks to Essence of Life Hospice, especially Molly Fliss, for supporting the family in the last weeks of Cathy’s life. Another thank you to PCI Hematology and Oncology, Dr. Jenagiri, Melissa Coulter and the entire team of Palliative Care and Social Work.
Cathy did not want a formal funeral, so family will welcome family and friends for a Celebration of Life/visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 5, at the Walford City Hall in Walford, Iowa. Please come and share condolences and memories with the family.
Memorials may be directed to the family or to Essence of Life Hospice and their Living Dreams program.
