Ross “Dewey” Patrick Bird of Hastings, Minn., died April 21, 2023. Born June 8, 1934, in Davenport, Iowa, to Dewey Miles Bird and Catherine Carr Bird.
Preceded in death by his parents; his sisters, Pat Prochaska and Phyllis Holden; and son, Randall Clark Bird.
Survived by children, Kevin Bird of Scottsdale, Ariz., Brian (Karen) Bird of Mendota Heights, Minn., and Teresa (Doug) Jackson of Mendota Heights, Minn.; five grandchildren, Karlee, Emma, and Leah Bird and Anne and Scott (Chloe) Fudenberg; and beloved friend, Deborah Gort of Willmar, Minn.
Graduate of Roosevelt High School and University of Iowa, also served in U.S. Army Artillery Division (11 mos in Germany). Sales career began at Wood Conversion Company, Owens-Corning, and Conwed Corporation, then Fortune 1000 management positions and ownership of two companies. Founded Business Facilitators, Ltd. in 2001 as a licensed real estate and business broker.
A non-stop athlete – from the Kindergarten Clickers to All City Halfback to Army Football. Favorite sport became golf and he shot three hole in ones. Loved time with grandchildren and never missed a family celebration. Ever so positive as he endured several health challenges the past 2 1/2 years; he fought for more time with his family.
Mass of Christian Burial 11 a.m. Thursday, May 4, 2023, Church of St. Peter, 1405 Highway 13 in Mendota, Minn. Visitation at 10 a.m. with lunch to follow. Service will be livestreamed on YouTube channel: Church of St. Peter, Mendota, Minn. Private interment at Acacia Cemetery. Memorials to The National Kidney Foundation of Minnesota.
