Doris Eileen Rawson, 82, of Troy Mills, Iowa, passed away Friday, April 21, 2023, at Emery Place, Robins. Visitation: 5 –to7 p.m. Sunday, April 23, 2023, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, Iowa. Funeral Service: 10 a.m. Monday, April 24, 2023, at Walker Bible Church, Walker, Iowa. Burial: Troy Mills Cemetery, Troy Mills.
Doris was born Dec. 11, 1940, in the Quasqueton/Walker, Iowa area, the daughter of Kenneth and Rosalea (Townsend) McVey. She graduated from Quasqueton High School as class valedictorian. On June 15, 1958, Doris was united in marriage to Orlie Rawson at the Christian Church in Walker. Doris was a dedicated homemaker and farm wife who raised seven children on the family farm. She was a former member of the Troy Mills Christian Church.
Survivors include her children, Daris (Sheryl) Rawson of Troy Mills, Derald (Barb) Rawson of Troy Mills, Deb (Darwin) Covington of Walker, Deanna (Rick) Mallow of Robins, Donald (Derrie) Rawson of Troy Mills, Dale Rawson of Troy Mills, and Dana (Pete) Sanders of Urbana; 29 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Hekel of Minnesota, and Myrna (Al) Huschka of Wisconsin; and sisters-in-law, Rozena McVey, Julie Butterfield and Lori Schlotfelt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Rosalea; husband, Orlie in 2018; grandson, Tyler Threatt; and brothers, Marvin McVey and Wayne McVey.
The family would like to express a special thank-you to the staff at Emery Place and Gentiva Hospice for the loving care that Doris received from them.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Troy Mills Fire Department.
